The shoulder reinforcements gave me total confidence scrambling over wet granite in a downpour—not a single drop got through. After three days of alpine hiking in mixed snow and rain, I stayed completely dry and comfortable.

The shoulder reinforcements held up perfectly against my backpack straps during a steep scramble. Kept me bone-dry through a full day of horizontal sleet and gusty winds above treeline.

Took this out in a proper alpine downpour and stayed bone dry the whole time, even with the shoulder reinforcements taking the brunt of my pack straps. The three-layer membrane breathes better than my old shell, so I didn't end up a sweaty mess on the ascent.
